Designing nurseries has to be one of my favorite thing to do.
We chose to not find out the sex of our first child. Of course it was one of the best surprises of our lives (spoiler alert – we had a BOY!). I also had so much fun driving family and friends crazy with anticipation!
I love little girl nurseries, covered in pink and soft whites with a fabulous flowered accent wall. I also adore little boy nurseries with dark greens and rich wood tones. I’m all over the map.
I had a blast with our gender neutral nursery.
I was going through a pretty serious love affair with Joanna Gaines at the time (I still am who I am kidding) and chose to have a shiplap accent wall behind the crib. I can’t take credit for installing the wall, my dad and husband tackled that, but it looked pretty simple with precut tongue and groove boards from Home Depot. I chose to keep the color scheme with all beiges and whites (wall color is Ballet White by Benjamin Moore), and purchased a pretty affordable crib that is painted to look a bit weathered and distressed.

The bookshelves we used are photo ledges from IKEA and I’m obsessed with this 3D “Once upon a time” sign from Etsy. It’s super easy to install just drilling a couple of holes in the wall and sticking parts of the wire in.
The mobile is from Etsy and I bought a matching garland as well to tie things together. I draped it across a shelf hanging above the bureau.
I love a little bit of theme and tried to run with “woodland animals”. I gravitated towards more realistic woodland animals rather than “cartoon-ey”.
Comfy chair is a hand-me-down from my sister in law! I spent many nights in this chair.
Our big guy turned 3 years old recently, and I have since updated a few things in this nursery to try and make it look a little more “boy-ish”. Follow up post to come!
