Fresh Flower Pumpkin Centerpiece

I got this artificial white pumpkin from Target on sale after Halloween for 50% off. It was hollow inside and was advertised as “carvable”. I’ll take a fake pumpkin and no messy carving of a real pumpkin any day. As much as I love crafts, I just can’t get on board with carving pumpkins.

I cut the stem off of this pumpkin with a kitchen knife. I cut off a block of floral foam small enough to fit through the hole in my pumpkin. You soak the block in water for a few minutes before inserting into the pumpkin, and then you can stick the flower stems right into the foam and they stay upright, stable and hydrated.

Super easy and festive!

Next up was the garland.

My initial thought process was to just place the greenery on the table. Through a little trial and error it seemed like a better idea to cut and piece together parts of the greenery with with floral tape or wire. It made it much easier to manipulate and looked cleaner.

I found three different inexpensive greenery bundles at Trader Joe’s. I took small sprigs of each and tied them together. I then created another bundle and attached that to the bottom of the previous and repeated the pattern.

I created two garlands and they met in the middle with the fresh flower pumpkin arrangement. I created a couple more little bundles to just place around the pumpkin in a circle.

A hot tip – when finishing off the overall look, take small little pieces or leaves and stick them into the garland where it needed a little filler and especially to cover your floral tape or wire.

I added in some candlesticks and votives for a cozy feel as well.

It was a pretty easy and inexpensive project to impress my guests on Thanksgiving! An added bonus is that I can totally use this pumpkin again next fall.
