This festive and delicious Yule Log Cake is so delicious, beautiful and made from scratch!

The Yule Log Cake (or Bûche de Noël) is a tradition originating in France that dates back to the 19th century. The cake represents the yule log that families would burn starting on Christmas Eve, symbolizing the new year to come and good luck ahead.

I found this awesome recipe from Life, Love and Sugar that uses mascarpone whipped cream and covers the cake with a chocolate ganache. Sugared cranberries and rosemary are super easy to make and they make the cake look so festive!

I often go back to a tip I learned from this recipe when I make other rolled desserts. After the cake is baked and while it’s still hot, use the parchment paper to lift it out of the cake pan and roll up. Let it cool like this. This allows the cake to keep it’s shape and not break when you unroll and fill it!

Lindsay from Life, Love and Sugar outlines every step in great detail, making this Yule Log Cake totally do-able at home. It’s such impressive holiday dessert and one of my favorites!
